NURBURGRING — Peugeot's sporty EX1 electric roadster concept continues to set EV speed records, this time on the Nordschliefe at Germany's Nurburgring.
Ahead of its public unveiling at last fall's Paris show, the EX1 established new records at the Montlhery racetrack in France.
At the Nordschliefe, driver Stephane Caillet took the EX1 around the circuit's 12.9-mile loop in 9:01.338 minutes, at an average speed of 138.324 km/h — a whisker under 86 mph. The new mark beats the previous EV lap record, set last year by BMW's Mini E, by a whopping 50 seconds.
The EX1 is powered by a pair of electric motors that produce a combined 340 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, with energy stored in a lithium-ion battery pack.
