MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Leviton, a leading global manufacturer of electrical devices, unveiled one of the first commercial electric vehicle charging stations in central New Jersey at the IEEE operations center in Piscataway during a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier today. The Leviton Evr-Green? Level 2 Commercial Charging Station, donated by Graybar, provides IEEE employees who own electric vehicles a convenient location to recharge for free while at work. IEEE is the world's largest technical professional association advancing technology for humanity, with 400,000 members worldwide.

"Leviton's relationship with IEEE is a major step in the right direction to help promote the further adoption and expansion of electric vehicle usage," explained Mike Mattei, Vice President and General Manager for Leviton's Commercial and Industrial Division. "At Leviton, we aim to create commercial electric power delivery solutions that are easy-to-use, and the Evr-Green electric vehicle charging products continue that tradition."

Designed to meet the needs of customers and employees at organizations such as IEEE, Leviton's Evr-Green Commercial Charging Stations are easy to use and highly reliable. Power is delivered through a single output that provides 7.2kW (208/ 240 V @ 30 A) Level 2 charging which is delivered via a standard SAE J1772? connector and 18-foot cable.

Running through the ChargePoint network, the largest network of electric vehicle charging stations in the world, Leviton's Evr-Green Commercial Charging Stations provide 24/7 driver support through a toll-free number, real-time reporting of station activity, station monitoring and access restriction to ensure only IEEE employees utilize the equipment. To access the station, employees use a ChargePass? Card or call ChargePoint's toll-free customer service number located on the charging station's screen. Using the ChargePass Card to establish access ensures IEEE's charging station is only available for authorized employees.

Leviton's Evr-Green Commercial Charging Stations are available for immediate delivery from Graybar, a leading distributor of high quality electrical, communications and data networking products and related services. The Evr-Green charging stations are listed to UL 2594, and comply with all industry standards, including the current National Electrical CodeR. They have been specifically developed to meet stringent automotive quality, product development and testing requirements.

ORLANDO, Fla., April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Energy, Inc. has been commissioned to provide electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to support Loudoun County, Virginia's new commuter park and ride lot in Scott Jenkins Memorial Park. Located 30 minutes outside of Washington, D.C., Loudoun County's initiative with Siemens represents one of the first EV infrastructure deployment projects in the area. Siemens' EV charging stations are feature-rich solutions that provide various benefits to both the charging station host and EV driver. The easy-to-use stations provide multiple power options, integrating aesthetics and ergonomics with sturdy construction. The charging stations are scheduled to be installed at the Loudoun County park by May 2011.

Siemens will install five multi-level charging stations for Loudoun County's park. Siemens' multi-level charging stations are dual output stations designed for public outdoor applications. The stations deliver Level II charging and Level I charging through two separate outputs. Both outputs can deliver energy simultaneously.

Siemens' EV charging stations will be equipped with connectivity via the largest and longest-running EV charging services network in the world, the ChargePointR Network. The open-system EV charging network allows access to all manufacturers of vehicle charging stations, provides 24/7 station monitoring and driver support and is the only charging network with mobile apps for real-time station status and charging notifications.

"Siemens' EV infrastructure solutions offer municipalities, corporations, fleets and utilities a smart, safe and simple method to charge electric vehicles," said Paul Camuti, president, Smart Grid Applications USA of Siemens Energy, Inc. "Installing EV chargers in Loudoun County is a great project for Siemens, because we are able to help the county meet its energy efficiency goals while providing drivers reliable, user-friendly charging stations."

Loudoun County is involved in a wide range of efforts to reduce the county government's energy consumption, improve energy efficiency and raise awareness about energy conservation. One step toward facilitating these goals is to install Siemens' EV charging solutions to provide the basic infrastructure needed to serve the first wave of electric cars. Initially, the EV charging stations will be installed at the county's Scott Jenkins Memorial Park to enable charging for commuters, as well as recreational visitors to the park. In either instance, visitors are likely to park for multiple hours, which makes the park an optimal location for EV drivers to charge their vehicles.

"The County is beginning to think strategically on how to provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure to its residents and how to integrate these new technologies into our own vehicle fleet," said Nicole Steele, Loudoun County energy grant specialist. "We look forward to working with Siemens to provide convenient EV charging at the county's new park and ride facility."

Siemens is displaying its EV charging solutions this week in Washington, D.C. at the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) Conference. Siemens representatives are on hand at booth 401 during exhibit hours and will be featured presenters for EV and Smart Grid seminars throughout the event.
